Master Control,
also known as the Central Aparatus Room, and as its names imply it housed
the equipment central to the distribution and switching of source programs.
It was also the controlling centre for signals incoming and outgoing.
A test pattern generator was also a source to air between programs with
its pattern being used to align television receivers.
Synchronising signals
from Master Control were fed to the various sources such as Studios, Telecine
and Telerecord and the outputs from Studios and Telecine were fed back
to Master Control for ultimate program assembly to air.
